Our Very Own Love Story

For your reading entertainment – please enjoy a bit of Ian and Tenille’s journey to Mr. and Mrs.

THEY MET AT A BAR… OF ALL THE PLACES!

Their parents always told them ‘you’ll never meet anyone good at a bar’. Normally, they would agree with them, but luckily for these two, it almost seems meant to be 🙂 Before they met, Ian and Tenille both had ‘regular’ full time jobs; Tenille as Concierge at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, and Ian as an online marketer. All Tenille wanted to do with her life was travel! Ian needed more socializing in his life, as he worked by himself at a computer all day. So they both decided to become bartenders; Tenille learned most people she met traveling could do so more freely as servers or bartenders. Ian thought it was a great job to get out and meet people. Tenille was 26 and Ian was 33 – both VERY old in the bartending World. Luckily they each knew a manager at The Pint Off Whyte and they were both hired – no experience or anything! Tenille’s first shift was Ian’s second shift. Ian was the first person Tenille met while walking behind the bar for the very first time, and they instantly hit it off. They became best friends at work, always laughing and having a great time. They were always so excited when they found out they got to work together, sneaking shots for each other whenever they could!

TENILLE MESSED UP THEIR FIRST DATE!

It didn’t take long for Ian to ask Tenille on a date. Their stories are slightly different, but Tenille says Ian asked her if she wanted to go for some drinks at a local bar, but she didn’t realize he was asking her on a date, she thought he meant go hang out with a group of friends. So sure enough, Tenille shows up with a group of people, and sees Ian sitting at the bar waiting for her, all by himself! Of course, Ian being the great guy he is, had no problem with it, and knew some of the people Tenille brought. They had a great time with their friends, and slowly the friends left one by one, until it was just the two of them. The progression was so natural for them, that by the end of the night, their feelings for each other were stronger than before and they just couldn’t wait to spend more time together.

THEY SPENT WAY TOO MUCH TIME TOGETHER!

Immediately after their ‘first date’ (that Tenille brought a group of people to!) they were inseparable! They spent every single day together. Almost every minute of every day together! They worked together too! They literally were inseparable! You’d think you would get sick of a person spending so much time together, but the more time they spent together, just made them want even more time together! Early in their relationship, they would always tease each other and say “YOU are so in love with me!” (before they officially said it) but secretly, they were already in love with each other! Neither would admit it though (they are both VERY stubborn!) Tenille moved into Ian’s house not even 3 months after dating.

… AND HE FINALLY PROPOSED!

5 years later, Ian finally proposed! They took a trip to the Florida Keys in March 2016. Ian booked a gorgeous suite at the Waldorf Astoria on Key West that he had gorgeously decorated with 6 dozen red roses, champagne and rose petals all over the place, with one special area that has rose petals shaped in a giant heart on the floor. Tenille was so surprised, but just thought he was being romantic! Until Ian went to the rose petal heart on the floor, got down on one knee and pulled out Tenille’s Grandmothers ring box. Tenille was in shock!  Ian said such amazing and beautiful things to Tenille and then asked her to be his wife. He opened the ring box, and inside, was a paper ring that said ‘Your car is waiting’. Ian had a limo waiting for them downstairs that took them to Downtown Key West; a great area with shopping, restaurants and live music. When the limo pulled up, waiting outside for them were two people – the Concierge that helped Ian put all this together, and a woman who is the owner of a the Diamonds International store . They were greeted by these two people and escorted into the ring store, where the woman opened her arms and said to Tenille ‘Here you go, take your pick!’ Ian loved the idea of them choosing Tenille’s ring together, so that’s exactly what they did. They had the owners to themselves, going through all sorts of rings, diamond and bands, until they decided on one that they both loved. The store needed time to put the ring together, so they got to enjoy a private room with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.
It was an unusual day in Key West because Kenny Chesney was in town, so the whole downtown area was closed off to traffic, and there were thousands of people wandering around. Once they received the ring, Ian thought it would be fun to propose to Tenille again, this time with the ring, and in front of everyone on the streets! So that’s what he did – he took Tenille into the middle of the street, got down on his knee again, and ask her again to be his wife. There was a huge crowd of people around them cheering and clapping, and they were able to get the whole thing on video!

“What I’m looking forward to is whats to come…Being husband and wife, achieving all of our goals, and making new ones on the way. Having a baby or two and living on a tropical island….the wedding should be fun too! ;)”

Honestly, no! We REALLY don’t need anything!! The best gift you could give us is to be there on our wedding day 🙂 But if you really want to give us something, we came up with this fun little poem below, to let you know what would really make our day!

We’ve been together quite a while, with all our pots and pans
And as we don’t need homely gifts, we have another plan!
We know it’s not traditional, and not the way it’s done
But rather than a wedding list, we’d love a bit of sun!
So if you would like to give a gift and send us on our way
A donation to our honeymoon would really make our day!

Yes! There will be a casual drop-in backyard BBQ taking place on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Beaumont and Tenille’s parents house. A fun and relaxing day for everyone to spend more time together. Come any time after 3:00 pm! Further details about this will be announced at the wedding.
